Ottawa River Cleanup
The annual Ottawa River Cleanup takes place October 24, 2026. Hundreds of of individuals, families, schools, businesses and organizations come together to clean up our Ottawa River. Each are assigned to a specific area of the river from Shawnee Township to Bath Township, given trash bags and gloves, and spend three hours picking up trash along the banks of the river. Children are welcome as long as they are accompanied by adults. Every year, tons of trash is removed from the river and its banks. The cleanup not only helps keep the Ottawa River clean and healthy, it keeps the downstream watersheds, including Lake Erie, cleaner and healthier as well.
Thank you to the sponsors and partners who make the Ottawa River Cleanup possible each year:
Ottawa River Coalition, Lima/Allen County Neighborhoods in Partnership, City of Lima, Allen Soil and Water Conservation District, Lima/Allen County Regional Planning Commission, Nutrien, OmniSource, Peacock Water and Rumpke.
